Arai Satomi (新井 里美) is a Japanese seiyuu from Saitama Prefecture. She is the founder of the agency Arai Voice Works. In 2011, she won Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the 5th Seiyuu Awards alongside Ito Kanae.

Biography[]

Arai Satomi was born on July 4th, 1980 in Yonishi, Saitama, Japan. She attended Saitama Prefectural Urawa Nishi High School, and had originally planned to attend college, but decided not to for various reasons.

From a young age, Arai had been told that her "voice is strange." This gave her the idea to become a seiyuu. She decided to attend Tokyo Announce Gakuin, and was signed with Yuurin Pro after graduating.

In 2001, Arai made her voice acting debut dubbing Caitilin in the foreign film I Am Caitlin. Her career was slow at first, but she began to gain substantial popularity in 2005.

In 2008, Arai became a major name in the industry after voicing Shirai Kuroko in To Aru Majutsu no Index. She won her first award for Best Supporting Actress in the 5th Annual Seiyuu Awards for this role. Also in 2008, she was married. However, this was not announced until March of 2012. She has a son, who was born in June of 2010.

In 2012, Arai left Yuuri Pro to become freelance.
